Beer, Bourbon and Bacon Festival at Barton Orchards 2019

Beer, Bourbon and Bacon Festival Beats The Heat, Brings The Fun!

The Annual Beer, Bourbon, and Bacon Festival at Barton Orchards in Poughquag, NY

With a scorching forecast for the weekend, the Beer, Bourbon and Bacon Festival held this past weekend in Poughquag, NY at Barton Orchards knew how to bring the crowd and beat the heat! An afternoon filled with adult fun, the festival hosted a fantastic assortment of food & drink, entertainment and activities to make sure the day was enjoyable.

First Time Here!

I arrived at Barton Orchards during the VIP set-up time and was not disappointed as the vendors had the taps flowing and the bacon sizzling. As I made my way out to the primary festival area, I was very impressed with the Barton Orchards grounds. Having a space where families can enjoy activities like the farm, Bakery, a petting zoo, fun park, and corn maze, in addition to having their own taproom and a Tree Top Adventures area, this is a place to bring back the family!

The festival was spread out very nicely so folks could easily enjoy the various craft beer vendors, alongside the bacon samples, food and vendor options. The promoters and Barton Orchards did a great job of anticipating a busy crowd with cooling locations, water fun (in the Hillbilly Playground) and activities to keep everyone entertained.

Beer, Bourbon, and Bacon Highlights:

Beer and Bourbon:

There were multiple stops for both Beer and Bourbon tasting under the tents. I sampled brews from Schofferhofer, Mill House Brewing (thanks for the VIP gift!) but my favorite new beer of the day was a Honey Blueberry Ale from Bull and Barrell Brewery out of Brewster, NY. Light, and flavorful, I think I’ll be heading to their pub to score a few cans of this!

On the Bourbon side, I did try samples from Catskill Distilling Company in Bethel, NY and Black Dirt Distillery from Warwick, NY. One thing I did try and it floored me with flavor was the Barrow’s Intense Ginger liqueur out of Brooklyn, a very unique taste I will search out again!

Bacon:

As I received my VIP (Very Important Pig) tag and started to work through my Bacon Passport, I was not disappointed with the unique things I found. From Bacon-infused Brownies, Bacon Potato Pancakes and well, just about everything came with Bacon! All the Vendor’s, whether it was from Handsome Devil BBQ, Three Little Pigs BBQ Food Truck or Bacon goodness mixed with garlic from Spacey Tracey’s Gourmet Pickles everything made me feel like a pig in a blanket!

Entertainment:

Music was also in the air, starting off with the maestro himself, Vito Petroccitto and then later the Patrick James Band brought entertainment to the crowds. Along the “midway” area Hudson Valley Hatchet let event goers try their hand at toss a hatchet at the target, or even just enjoy a game of cornhole. A lot fo the fun though was at the Hillbilly Water Park…

Hillbilly Fun in the Sun:

A hill long Slip N Slide, Redneck “hot tubs” and pickup truck bed “pools” allowed many of the participants a chance to cool down and have some refreshing time away from the tents. I had a great time talking to Erik, by the Redneck Hot Tub, who has been to each Beer, Bourbon and Bacon Festival since it’s inception, and as he told me, you can relax, keep your belly full and it’s always a great time!

In Closing...
