Accessibility Opens Doors For Entrepreneurs: Accessadoor in Poughkeepsie NY
Entrepreneurs Solve Problems, Especially Their Own!
Recently I was sent a story about Marist and 7 other local colleges competing in the Mid-Hudson Regional Business Plan Competition and while reading the article I came across the story of Dana Jones, a local senior at Marist College who had taken her own need for accessibility in public places and created a new business called Accessadoor LLC.
Dana’s journey and entrepreneurial drive is an inspiration for the Hudson Valley’s fresh generation of business creators and owners. Dana, a Dutchess Community College transfer student found that many institutions, educational and otherwise were not always accessible. As a lifelong entrepreneur she knew that one idea can help many, and the desire not to be stuck missing classes launched the idea for Accessadoor.
Continuing her educational journey in Marist College she has been supported and partnered throughout the local educational and business communities. Today she discusses the impact she hopes to make and the local manufacturing partnerships that she, and Head Hardware and Software Engineer, Jacob Ernst are building.
Watch the story with Dana and I can say, as a father of two daughters, thank you, Dana, for being an inspiration for entrepreneurs and young women everywhere!
